vintagey kitchen accessories

I absolutely adore Bake Sale!!  I love the vintage look of it and was so excited I had an excuse to sew with it finally.  My soon niece to be had a bridal shower this last week-end and she loves to bake so it was easy to decide to make her some vintage style kitchen accessories!!

Jessie's favorite colors are aqua, yellow and white!!  I added in a little red to bring out the strawberries and cherries!!  Aren't these the prettiest colors for a kitchen!?!

The hexagon trivit is from Ayumi's fabulous book Patchwork, Please!  I have a couple others that I've paper pieced but still need to quilt and bind for my kitchen.  The oven mitt I made from a tutorial on Skip to my Lou.    I need to stitch up a few new ones since mine are looking pretty bad.

I made a couple kitchen towels and added some simple hexagons and some ric rac!  So easy!!

The dish soap apron I made using a tutorial from Camille.  I've made a handful of these and they stitch up super fast!!   A perfect little gift.  I had made a couple extra and used them for prizes for the Bridal Shower games.

Tasha hosted the bridal shower at her house and made the loveliest bridal oasis!  It was simply divine!!

For a fun activity I had everyone help create a lovely toilet paper bridal gown for Jessie!!  We had a little bit of fun with this!!  And doesn't she look gorgeous even in toilet paper!!  :)

Jessie gets married this Saturday in Hawaii and I am so excited for her!!  I wish her and my nephew the best of luck and many many years of love and happiness!!

a beach retreat

This month I was able to go on my annual beach retreat with my family!   It was such a fun and relaxing time, and I loved every moment!!  We watched lots of movies while I stitched hexies together, we went on a little antique trip and had a blast taking beach photos again.  Do remember last years?

I got the outer layer stitched onto the grandmother flower garden mini quilt I'm working on for the Sewing Room Swap.

I also have been working on my August hexie block!  I'm almost done!  :)

Here is our little antiquing trip we took.  Feather your Nest is our favorite place to shop while in Brookings!

Here is Tasha and I, and we are matching!!  Funny thing is we do this all the time and don't ever plan it!

Some of my vintage goodies I found while on our trip.

I also found these beautiful vintage hexie flowers!!  The were only a $1.25 a piece.  I think I really scored!!

Our photo shoot!  ;)

 All the girls and the cutie twins!!  I was in baby heaven!!  :)

 And I had a little fun with the photo shoot.  :)

 I sure do love my sweet family!!  Can't wait for next year!

While I was gone Heather Ross's, Briar Rose came in!!  Isn't it so sweet!!  I have the full collection listed in my shop along with some smaller bundles.  :)

 Here is a pretty in pink custom bundle that I shipped off recently!  Isn't it sew pretty!!

I also pulled fabric to start an On a Whim quilt with Scrumptious and some other pretty coordinating fabrics.  I'm now waiting for my background fabric to arrive.  I'm sure itching to start!!  Also, there is a quilt a long if you'd like to join in too!

I hope everyone is having a lovely week!!

a farmers wife again

Do you remember how I started my farmers wife quilt a couple years ago? My blocks have been sitting on my shelf looking pretty for far too long. I was about to start another project and then saw my pretty stack. It was time to pull them out, and I'm so glad I did. I'm getting so close to having enough for a lap size quilt.

This shows 41 of them.  I finished 5 more since this picture so have 4 more to do and then will have enough for the lap size.  So close!!

Peace & Plenty {64}

Ribbons {74}  I've been using my new vintage iron I found and I love how it presses the seams super flat!!  It is so heavy, and perfect for working on blocks!!  Thanks Lori for recommending vintage irons!!

The bottom row also shows Maple Leaf {56} & End of Day {30}

Country Path {24}

This one I did this morning.  I love the strawberries!!  :)

I also finished my July blocks last week.  I love having a hexie block to keep me busy each month.

This week-end I started on my August block and made some good progress on it.

I also found a new vintage quilt!!  I couldn't resist taking a photo of all my recent ones I've found.   I think they are so pretty!

This is my newest one.  Love the pink border!!

For shop news I listed the Mary Rose, Sweet Charm collection in bundles.  I love how soft and pretty these fabrics are!!

I also received some of Lori's sweet Bake Sale fabrics for the shop!  Isn't it lovely!!  I have several projects in mind already I want to make.

I hope everyone had a lovely week-end and is having a magical Monday!!
